100 Bullets

7/10

By Brian Azzarello & Eduardo Risso

100 Bullets This is a great ongoing series that seems to get better as it goes along. The first few stories were very enjoyable, but nothing tied them together; characters didn't reappear in the first few story arcs. But it seems that the author had a bigger picture in mind, which is always a pleasant surprise in ongoing comic book series, since they can run for a long time and are subject to changing creators and risks of cancellation.

I collected the first two graphic novels, both of which were very nicely done, and I'm now trying to find some issues I'm missing. The basic plot revolves around a mysterious man who in each storyline gives a suticase to an individual who has been wronged in some way. The suitcase contains a gun and 100 completely untraceable bullets. It's up to each character to decide if they will use them, and how.

The book now is really hitting its stride. In recent issues, it's starting to look like each person chosen was not at random, but part of a grand plan involving a worldwide conspiracy. Very interesting and complex. And Risso's art is perfect for the series - gritty and full of character.
