Men's Health

9/10

Men's HealthThis is a great magazine. I originally subscribed as a trial, like I do for many magazines, but had no expectation to want to continue. I hoped to get a few workout tips from it, but it's much more robust.

Turns out, the magazine covers a lot of categories:

Workout/Fitness: Lots of good stuff here, but I have a pretty good workout and a lot of it's too advanced. Since I don't belong to a gym, I'm limited with the weights I have. But there are a lot of good workout tips like what time to workout, what to eat before and after, and tricks to stay motivated (the hardest part.)

Health/Diet/Nutrition: This is the section that probably helps me the most. I'm a total food novice. There are recipes, rated products, and specialized foods for different goals. I'm not too interested in the long-term tips, like how to beat heart disease and get your hair back. After all, I'm 27; ergo, I will live forever.

Sex/Dating: This are the articles I like to read the most. Who wouldn't? A far cry from Maxim's or FHM's "tips," which are usually like, "8 implausible ways to get a threesome in college," or "How to pretend to pay attention to her while watching the game." No, this here's useful stuff. Date location ideas. Etiquette. How to dress for dates. And mature, well-written sex info.

Clothes: Again, very useful for me. I haven't seen any other source for practical fashion info (e.g. not just for models), other than nonchalantly staring at men on the street, and this way is creepiness-free! My favorite feature every issue is a page showing ten or so items, and then two pages of how to mix them into a bazillion different outfits.

What don't I like? Just stuff that doesn't interest me, but not really anything bad. I have no interest in cars, not much in tech gadgets (yet yes, I am a web designer.) I'm no sports fan, but there's not a lot of sports here. I don't care about extreme sports, but I'd like more about walking and hiking. A lot of the high-end stuff reviewed is way beyond a rational budget ($10,000 watches, $200 cologne, $1500 suits), but that's true of most magazines.

So, if you're a man, read this magazine. If you're a woman, read this magazine and recommend things to your man.
